About This Spot

Stepping inside Stouch Tavern is like slipping through a well-worn doorway into another time, where the rhythm of the day softens and the world slows just enough to savor the moment. Nestled in the heart of Womelsdorf, this historic restaurant wraps you in a quiet warmth — the kind that comes from crackling fireplaces, deep-set windows, and a thoughtfully preserved ambiance that honors its 18th-century roots without feeling like a museum.

The pace here invites you to unfold your evening gently. Staff move attentively but never intrusively, allowing for conversation to simmer and laughter to linger. It’s a place that encourages presence, where each course seems to arrive at the precise moment you’re ready, never rushed but perfectly timed to extend the pleasure of the meal.

Far from merely eating, a visit to Stouch Tavern offers an immersive experience in comfort and craftsmanship. The food reflects the same slow, deliberate care as the setting — dishes shaped by tradition, skillfully refined, and presented with a quiet confidence. From the rich, soul-soothing soups to expertly prepared meats and desserts alight with subtle theatricality, each bite is a reminder of when cooking was as much about nurturing the spirit as satisfying hunger.

Gatherings here feel intimate whether you’re seated for a festive holiday party or a tender celebration with someone special. The tavern’s festive decorations and glowing hearths mark the seasons and occasions gracefully, adding layers of coziness without overwhelming the timeless charm. In every detail, there’s a gentle invitation to pause and relish that rare blend of historic authenticity and heartfelt hospitality.

My husband looked for something special for Valentine's Day this year and he found it! Was almost a trip back in time. The food was amazing, you know the kind of food that's been prepared, slowly cooked to perfection. Same with the atmosphere. Completely unrushed but an attentive staff. I can't remember when I had such a delicious and relaxing night out.

We had a corporate lunch here, and the atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous! Everything was decorated for Christmas and they had the fireplace crackling merrily. It was beautiful and the food was delicious as well. Great experience!

Fine dinning is Alive and well at Stouch Tavern. This Historic Tavern once housed George Washington, the huge open fireplaces and deep windows take you wayyyyyy back to thev 1700's. Best filet in town! Fresh Caesar salads made table side as well as the flaming Bananas Foster, Cherry Jubilee and house made Bread Pudding. The Cream of Crab soup and French Onion soup are a must as well! We take our mothers here every year as their Christmas present! Need a nice dinner for a special occasion....this is the place. They do have a Sunday Brunch once a month...thats on our list to try!

Must go! Beautifully decorated! Wonderfully cooked! Save room for dessert! And the prices are amazing. It was half the price I thought it would be. 10 out of 10 recommend.

We went there with a group of 17 for a work Christmas party. Everything was excellent! We didn't feel rushed even though some of our group was late arriving. The food was excellent! No complaints on any of the dishes. We will be ordering the Filet Mignon next time as it looked amazing and everyone that got it said it was perfect. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Kitchen did an excellent job, too!

We received visited with a group of 24. What a quaint gem this place is. The atmosphere was so cozy & charming. It was decorated so beautifully for Christmas! The staff went above and beyond for us. They accommodated allergy restrictions. Food was tasty and fresh. Best Caesar salad! Crab cakes are excellent. The desserts were insane! Bananas flambé, the carrot cake and the peach cobbler was to die for! Highly recommend - you won’t be disappointed!

This place has a really good atmosphere—calm, comfortable, and perfect for unwinding. The music is relaxing without being distracting, and the food is genuinely well‑made and enjoyable. A great spot if you’re looking for a peaceful dining experience with quality dishes.
